Kirsten and Scott--a husband and wife that are separated by jailhouse walls, as he is incarcerated despite his innocence. He is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. As a family of 4, and then 5, as the story unfolds, Scott and Kirsten knew the "good life." But God had a better one in store. They first had to be broken. They plumb new depths of their faith and in their knowledge of the Word in these days that some would consider dark, but that God infused with great joy. Throughout a total of 16 months of separation they wrote letters to each other that are filled with the stories that capture the depth of their love, family life, fear, questioning, and details of what God is doing in, around and through them. Many of the letters are laced with snaphots of jailhouse interactions in the maximum security unit where God still dwells. It is inspiring to see how the Holy Spirit moves throughout the whole situation when you see Scott’s letter next to Kirsten’s as the days go by. Prayers are being prayed and answered and it is all recorded in the daily wrap-up. It is a God story. It is a love story. And the letters are delivered daily. november 27th – inside/out 2.0

by Kirst on November 9, 2009

Hi Sweetheart,

I’m glad I caught you today when I did, and for 2 reasons.  One, it sounded like you were not feeling that well (which is understandable considering the first half of your day) and two, because I did not get the opportunity to call tonight.  Hopefully you didn’t wait up and went ahead and tried to get some sleep.  I pray that it will be a smooth night for you, one of peaceful and rejuventing sleep.

The tank is about to change faces again with many of the “short timers” either going to court or getting released.  Hopefully it is a shift for the good, we have had a rocky 2-3 weeks.

I got lost in thought there for a moment.  I was replaying in my mind the details of our phone conversation and the events of your day.  I was staring off in to space with a smile on my face when Jonathan caught me and brought me back.  I was picturing poor Kayti and her ordeal in the car on the way to the Wright’s house.  I was picturing all of you guys going through your day.  I wish I would have been there to help with the clean up of Kayti, the carseat and the car.  John’s reaction to the whole situation was really cool.  We’re fortunate that it happened on the way to their house, and that it happened right when you were pulling up.  You’re quite a trooper.  I know the appearance and smell must have been overpowering.  It did, however, sound like it was a pretty good day overall.   Especially the part about the 3 of you playing together in the afternoon.  Man I want to be there with you guys!  And the story you shared about Kayti cracks me up, “I’m going to put myself right here in case I need me later.”  She is such a character!  I am a proud father and blessed husband.  Thank you.

Must..go..sleepy.  Sleep well my true love.  I’ll write you more in the morning.
