Kirsten and Scott--a husband and wife that are separated by jailhouse walls, as he is incarcerated despite his innocence. He is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. As a family of 4, and then 5, as the story unfolds, Scott and Kirsten knew the "good life." But God had a better one in store. They first had to be broken. They plumb new depths of their faith and in their knowledge of the Word in these days that some would consider dark, but that God infused with great joy. Throughout a total of 16 months of separation they wrote letters to each other that are filled with the stories that capture the depth of their love, family life, fear, questioning, and details of what God is doing in, around and through them. Many of the letters are laced with snaphots of jailhouse interactions in the maximum security unit where God still dwells. It is inspiring to see how the Holy Spirit moves throughout the whole situation when you see Scott’s letter next to Kirsten’s as the days go by. Prayers are being prayed and answered and it is all recorded in the daily wrap-up. It is a God story. It is a love story. And the letters are delivered daily. take 2: december 8th – inside/out

Hi Sweetheart,

It’s just before dinner on Wednesday.  I tried a couple of calls to the house earlier but didn’t reach you.  Even though it is Wednesday, I just wanted to try anyway.  I’m missing you.

Aunt P’lene and Audrey were here already.  Always fun to visit with them.  Audrey was feeling a lot better.  She is on the mend.  Too bad she had to miss Thanksgiving.  She really wanted to see you guys.  She especially wanted to hold Mallory.  I’m sure she’ll get the chance soon enough.

Hey!  Now that I mention it, I want to hold Mallory.  That chubby-cheeked little bundle of sweetness.  She needs to be held by her daddy.  And her daddy needs to be smiled at by his newest little one.  Oh, I am missing you guys so much today.  Gonna have to pull out my family pics and lay them out across my bunk.  I love looking at them!

I got another chance to listen to CMT today.  Jaime told everyone it was my day and they couldn’t change the channel.  So for me, it’s a treat just being able to listen to some good ol’ country music.  And the mood is so much more calm when the music is country, as opposed to non-stop BET.  Guys in the tank noticed and commented about it.  Plus I think Jaime likes the songs, he’s becoming a Kenny Chesney fan.  I told him how Kayti would sit in the van with her walkman listening to Kenny and sing at the top of her voice.  Classic!
